"Business and Organizations" Concentration
certifies preparation for postgraduate studies and careers in business and the non-profit sector

Sociology majors who wish to prepare for graduate school, professional school, or a career in business or nonprofit organizations may elect to acquire a concentration in "Business and Organizations". The concentration provides Cornell students with training in economic sociology and organizations.

REQUIREMENTS

In order to complete a concentration in "Business and Organizations", students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Complete both core courses in the concentration: SOC 105 or SOC 395, and

    ** Students who took SOC 215 or SOC 305 during or prior to the 2003/04 academic year will receive core credits toward the concentration for that course

     
  2. Complete four additional courses from the following list: SOC 203 (FGSS 203), SOC 215, SOC 304, SOC 311 (ILROB 321), SOC 326/526, SOC 340, SOC 362, SOC 445, SOC 446/646, SOC 492, AEM 334, ANTHR 444, HADM 115, ILRCB 201, ILROB 122, ILROB 170, ILROB 171, ILROB 427, ILROB 622, ILROB 624, ILROB 673, PAM 220, and PAM 383.

    ** Students who took SOC 217, 220, 222, 313/513, 314/514, 320, 322, 323, 325, 358/558, 370/570, 373, 403, 421, or 430 during or prior to the 2003/04 academic year or SOC 340, SOC 357, SOC 445, or ILROB 673 during or prior to the 2005/06 academic year will receive credit toward the concentration for those classes

Students must complete the Business and Organizations Concentration Form, and submit to Undergraduate Assistant, Sue Meyer. Students who fulfill the concentration requirements will receive a certificate and letter of recommendation from the CSES Director based on their cumulative academic record in the concentration.
