HJ Holm’s current research is oriented towards three areas and is mostly based on experimental methods. The first area involves investigations of the effect of communication in strategic situations. In experiments, the effects of communication in market entry games and the inclination to lie in competitive games are empirically analyzed. This project (financed by the Jan Wallander Foundation) also contributes by a game theoretical analysis of lie detection. The second area concerns the determinants of trust in economic situations. Initially, this research was oriented towards individual determinants of trust, but the more recent orientation concerns how different institutions affect the level of trust. The third area covers empirical investigations of decision makers’ attitudes to various forms of uncertainty in a large experiments. One study in the Yangtze-delta in China comprises a stratified sample of 700 entrepreneurs who participate in an interview and an experiment. Among other things, differences in uncertainty behavior between the entrepreneurs and a randomly selected control group.
